QUEST acronym 9/1/2020
The QUEST acronym is very important in the AP capstone program. The steps in the acronym allow us to expand our brains and discover new information in order to create a compelling, non biased argument on a topic. The QUEST acronym stands for: Q: Question and Explore; This first step calls for us to look deeper into our current knowledge and come up with questions that could help us to learn more about the topic we are already familiar with. This step also calls us to question our previous research and see if there are any questions we can ask. Some questions could be, how are different people affected by the topic? Could different people have an experience not mentioned before? Etc. U: Understand and Analyze; This step tells us to read an argument on the topic and use it to comprehend the author's ideas in order to learn more about information related to the topic from a different perspective and source. This step allows us to begin looking into different views of the argument so we can evaluate them and see if there are any valid points we may use in our argument. E: Evaluate Multiple Perspectives; This step tells us to learn more about a topic from different points of view. The previous perspectives you have read about and seen are evaluated in this step to allow us to be more open minded and consider each possibility or reason in the argument. S: Synthesize Ideas; This step calls for us to finally create our argument. After seeing every side of the story, expanding your knowledge on a topic, and understanding different claims, you should be able to figure out your perspective on the topic and prepare an argument suited to your ideals that is unbiased and mentions each detail of the argument. T: Team, Transform, and Transmit; The final step of QUEST tells us to transform our argument into something suitable for an audience so we can make it persuasive, understandable, and interesting. Make sure you find a medium that is best suited for your audience in order to interest them. The goal of QUEST is to convey an argument in a persuasive way based off of knowledge you already had and new claims and details that have been brought to your attention.
